Christmas was definitely a little different for everyone this year, but one thing’s for sure, we all still enjoyed creating dazzling festive light displays! More people than ever came together (although 2m apart!) to lift each other’s festive spirits by decorating their homes and businesses with our lighting. We have compiled some of our festive favourites from 2020 to share with you, to keep those festive fires burning; starting with some of our favourite tagged images from Instagram below.
This Christmas, we also got involved with some wonderful displays that raised money for different charities. In such unprecedented times, one thing we noticed is that everyone went above and beyond with Christmas decorations this year, and we have seen, and been involved with, some of the most impressive displays of our lights ever! Check out some of our favourite displays raising money for worthy causes below.
Shevington Lane Display
Their house in Wigan was officially illuminated on Tuesday 1 December, in a virtual switch-on event we streamed live on our Instagram account, which more than 900 people watched from home. The house is draped in hundreds of metres of our ConnectPro connectable lighting system, and also features everything from life size nutcrackers to a light-up 10 piece singing choir! Since the big switch on, their magical display has raised £4,410 for the Rainbow Children’s Ward, which supports and cares for sick children and their families at Wigan Hospital.
Santa’s Slog – The Rola Cola Truck
A makeshift Coca-Cola truck, named the “Rola Cola Truck”, followed Bill, a professional boxer from Preston, as he pulled a 500kg sleigh across the Fylde coast in the North West. The “Rola Cola” truck was adorned in our white rope lighting, giving it extra festive feels. Nothing says Christmas like seeing a big red Cola truck covered in lights driving through the town! The day raised an amazing total of £15,861 for these wonderful charities: Donna’s Dream House, The Space Centre Preston, Rock FM Cash For Kids, Secret Santa Blackburn, Kirkham Food Bank and Kirkham Integrated Stroke Support KISS.
Derian House Display
Derian House is a charity local to us who help children and young people, whose lives are too short, to make happy memories and support them from birth right through to their adult life. Without a doubt, this was one of our best moments from 2020. We really enjoyed creating this Christmas display for Derian House; we’re so happy it brought so many smiles to the children’s faces! We love to be able to continue to help and support such fantastic charities that are close to us, like this one.
