Materials Needed:

  • Your solar deck lights of choice.
  • Screws or adhesive pads usually included with the lights.
  • Drill (if using screws)
  • Screwdriver (if using screws)
  • Rubbing alcohol (optional for cleaning the mounting surface)
  • Damp cloth (for cleaning solar panels) 


Step-by-step installation

  1. Choose the location for your lights. 
    First things first, decide where you’d like to place your new solar lights. This could be a decking, stair treads, or pathways. We would recommend that you choose somewhere exposed to lots of sunlight in the day, to allow the panels to charge efficiently.
  2. Prepare the surface if using adhesive pads.
    If your solar lights come with adhesive strips, be sure to clean the surface you want to attach them to for optimum sticking.
  3. Rubbing Alcohol
    Use rubbing alcohol and a clean cloth to remove any dirt, dust, or debris. This will help the lights to better adhere to the chosen surface.
  4. Mounting with screws (if applicable)
    If your lights require mounting with screws, use the drill to create pilot holes in the desired spots. Then, use a screwdriver to secure the lights in place, using the screws.
  5. Mounting with adhesive pads (if applicable)
    If your solar lights need adhesive pads, remove the protective backing on the solar deck lights
  6. Allow the solar lights to charge.
    Allow the deck lights to charge in the sun for 36-48 hours before switching on. This ensures the batteries are fully charged for optimum performance. 

Maintenance


Periodically clean the solar panels to ensure no dirt or debris is obstructing light absorption. This will ensure long term maximum performance.
