Going Green
Introducing our sustainability timeline
At Festive Lights, we’re continuously dedicated to making our production and work environment a greener place to be. We’ve worked extremely hard to recognise where we can improve our operations, opting for methods that improve our knowledge and daily ways of working. Here's what we've been up to so far.
September 2021
We waved goodbye to paper in our warehouse! Introducing handheld scanners, with physical dispatch notes no longer included in the shipping of your favourite products.
January 2022
Our printed cardboard boxes were replaced with recyclable brown boxes featuring simple, black text.
August 2022
Squashing our carbon footprint! A cardboard compactor was installed at our Wigan warehouse. This means that waste can be transported more efficiently, in turn reducing the number of waste collections. It also results in more economical waste processing, ensuring that waste can be recycled without contamination.
September 2022
We started working with NB Colour Print for our brochure and leaflet printing. NB Colour Print actively works with the World Land Trust through carbon balancing of their printing practices, who buy and then protect environmentally threatened land in Africa, Asia, Central America and South America.
July 2022 - January 2023
We enrolled in and completed the Green Rose Programme over a 6-month period. The Green Rose Programme provides support and guidance in the development and implementation of an organisation’s Environmental Management System.
February 2023
Bin there, done that! From this date, polyfoam, bubble wrap, plastic, tape, and polybags we’re removed from our packaging. For example, polybags containing fixings were replaced with paper bags, bulbs were sent in card inserts, and heavy products were sent with EPE foam, a recyclable packaging alternative.
June 2023
We installed compost stations at our warehouse, used to compost the waste from our green areas.
September 2023
Products packaged in a glossy, colourful box were replaced with brown boxes featuring black print to ensure they’re fully recyclable. The only exception here is our connectable products, which will soon be following suit with a brand-new design.
November 2023
We began packaging products from our warehouse in paper mailers for all sizes apart from the largest, which are instead packaged in a recycled polyethene mailer. We also began using paper void for our packaging instead of plastic.
January 2024
Festive Lights signed up for Just One Tree with our freight company! This means that we pay a surcharge on each booking placed with our freight company and in return, they plant a tree on behalf of every booking.

We’re always working behind the scenes to find new ways that reduce our carbon footprint whilst maintaining our stellar reputation for providing top-quality products and customer service.
We’re currently implementing more seamless and efficient recycling procedures across our sites to ensure waste is segregated properly, and constantly researching ways that we can continue to improve throughout this year and beyond.
