DIY Halloween Light Up Letters 🎃

Leaves are starting to fall off the trees and dark morning are creeping there way closer; this is a sure sign that we are now in October and with October comes Halloween. Instead of being down that summer BBQs are behind us, and beer gardens are no longer habitable unless wrapped in 3 jumpers and a scarf, let’s embrace our winter coats, turn the heating on and get everyone round for some festive fun!

So, if you’re a fan of all things spooky, or just like any excuse to use some glitter and glow-in-the-dark glue, then watch our video below because we’ve got a super scary and super simple DIY that’s perfect for you. Without further ado, let’s get crafty!

Spiders Web – B

What you need: Various size fake spiders, craft spider webs (cotton wool would work), and glue gun.

1. Separate out the spider webs and the spiders and cut off some sections to use to cover the letter
2. Using a hot glue gun cover the letter with the web, be careful not to cover the LED’s too much.
3. Once you are happy with the web coverage start adding in the spiders. (We’ve used small and large spider for a realistic spooky touch)

Pretty Pumpkin – O

What you need: Orange, red, black and green various marker pens, piece of card, glue gun.

1. For the pumpkin ‘O’ you will need your colouring pens and card. We’ve used Sharpie so the pumpkin is long lasting and vibrant.
2. Time to get creative! Colour the light up letter ‘O’ as the orange section of the pumpkin, we’ve gone for a cartoon pumpkin with sketch style edges and a cartoon face.
3. Sketch out your pumpkin stalk on card and use the glue gun to attach this to the top of the letter.

Dripping Glow In The Dark – O

What you need: Glow in the dark glue-gun sticks, black glitter, black marker pen.

1. For the final spooky dripping O you will need to change the glue in the glue gun to the glow in dark tubes
2. Sketch out an idea of where you want the drips to be using the black marker pen and then proceed to blob the glow in the dark glue at the top and just let it drip!
3. Once you’re happy with the dripping glue Evenly spread the mod podge around the glue drips. Now the fun part, sprinkle the glitter!!
4. We wanted the glow in the dark glue to be prominent so we went back in and added an extra layer of drips over the glitter and then touched up any areas that needed more glitter.

…And you’re done! Display your lights for all to see this scare-season!
