Solar Lamp Posts

For a decorative addition to your garden, choose from our range of solar lamp posts. These lamps create a focal point and add something special to your outside space.

Seamlessly blending practicality with an elegant aesthetic, this lighting option provides functional lighting in a classic Victorian lamp post style. As they're battery-powered, they're easy to install and free of messy wiring, creating a neat, safe lighting option. Also, as they don't need a connection to a mains power supply, you can place your new garden lamp posts anywhere. That could be in your driveway, beneath a tree or next to your outdoor seating area.

Browse our extensive collection of outdoor lamp posts today. From standalone designs to triple-head security lighting, we've got options to elevate your outdoor space.

What types of outdoor lamp posts do you stock?

We sell a range of solar lamp posts for the garden in a variety of styles.

There are single lamp posts that work beautifully at the doorway of your home, or close to a water feature, or other areas of your garden that you'd like to highlight.

We also have a choice of dual and triple-head lamp posts that illuminate spaces and create a gentle glow while retaining the Victorian lantern style.

Why choose solar garden lamp posts?

Use our collection of traditionally styled solar lamp posts as an alternative to regular solar decking lights and solar path lights. They add elegance and class to your outdoor space and make a beautiful statement piece at the end of a driveway.

As well as being impressive to look at, these lamp posts are practical. They double up as security lighting and can be used with solar security lights. They're also weather resistant. Come rain, hail or snow, they can be left in place all year.

Plus, they're adjustable, with the lights offering a choice of height options. So, you can make them smaller and strategically place them on your decking or extend the light for an attention-grabbing tall lamp post. Light up your space in a way that works for you.

In addition, these lights are powered by LED bulbs, meaning they run for longer than their traditional counterparts. The bulbs are available in either warm white or bright white. You can alter the brightness settings on these lamp posts too – ideal for changing the look and feel of your garden with the seasons.

Solar Lamp Post FAQs

  • How do solar lamp posts work?

Solar lamp posts come with built-in solar panels that harness sunlight during the day and convert it to electrical energy. This energy is stored in rechargeable batteries. At night, the stored energy powers the lights, illuminating the lamp posts.

To learn more about solar lights, you can read our Knowledge Centre article here which should answer all your questions.

  • How long do solar lamp posts illuminate at night?

Lighting duration depends on factors such as the quality of solar panels, battery capacity and the amount of sunlight received. Most solar lamp posts can provide illumination for 8-10 hours on a full charge. Solar lights have sensors that react when the ambient light is dropping. This will then illuminate the LEDs, turning off in the morning when natural light is detected again.

  • Are solar lamp posts cost effective?

Yes! Solar lamp posts are a cost-effective lighting option when compared to normal, electric lights. While the initial investment might be higher, solar lamp posts save you money in the long run by not incurring ongoing electricity costs. Instead, they harness renewable energy, meaning they're environmentally friendly and lower your energy costs.

  • Do solar lamp posts need direct sunlight to function?

Direct sunlight is the best way to ensure optimal charging. However, that doesn’t mean solar lamp posts can’t perform on overcast days. It’s just worth remembering that charging may be at a reduced level, leading to a shorter lighting duration at night.

  • Are there different settings?

Many of our solar lights offer dual brightness settings. The high brightness setting is better for the summer months when fewer hours of darkness allow the light to operate at full brightness without using the battery's charge. The low brightness setting is better suited to the winter months when more hours of darkness mean your light has less charging time.

  • Are solar lamp posts weather-resistant?

Yes, reputable lamp posts such as ours at Festive Lights are designed to be weather resistant. They’re built to withstand prolonged outdoor exposure to rain, snow and other environmental conditions. Look for products with a high IP rating to ensure durability. If you want to find out more about IP ratings, check out our handy guide.

  • Can I replace the batteries in solar lamp posts?

Yes, many lamp posts have replaceable batteries. To ensure a long lifespan, it’s important to change the batteries once the performance isn’t at 100%.

  • Do solar lamp posts come with warranties?

Yes, reputable brands often give a certain amount of warranty with their solar lights. For example, all our products come with a 12-month warranty, ensuring that you’re always secure when you buy with us.
