Create Your Own Floating Festive Decoration

Whether it be transforming your garden into a winter wonderland with glistening outdoor Christmas lights or surrounding your Christmas tree with gifts and treats for the whole family to enjoy – we love filling our space with all things jolly!
Injecting indoor Christmas lights in subtle and clever ways is a great time to bring a warming, welcoming glow to your home. So, if you’re looking to get crafty this Christmas and create mesmorising results with very little time or effort, look no further than our latest decoration creation. Super effective and easy to do, this Christmas DIY is the perfect festive activity to get the little ones, and even the big kids, involved – so, get creative with water beads to create this stunning floating Christmas ornament.
Things you’ll need to create your own floating festive decoration:
- Three different sized glass cylinders (we got ours from Amazon).
- Water gel beads.
- Our warm white firefly wire battery lights.
- A selection of miniature Christmas decorations.
- Water.
Step-by-Step:
1. Before you begin, find a large container and soak the gel beads in water for approximately 8 hours for the best outcome.
2. Take time to test that your battery lights are working correctly.
3. Once the beads are full-sized, start placing your wire lights into the largest cylinder. Weigh the wire down by adding a small number of beads into the bottom of the cylinder.
4. Continue adding beads, stopping in intervals to carefully place your decorations until the cylinder is just below full.
5. Carefully and slowly fill the cylinder with water up to the top.
6. Repeat this process for the two smaller cylinders, flick the switch and bask in the glow of your floating creations.
