WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
- A mason jar
- A battery powered tea light or wire lights
- Metallic spray paint
- Sticky back paper
Sticky back paper can be substituted for any kind of easily removable adhesive such and blu tack or pva glue and paper.
STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
First make sure you have everything you need to complete this DIY project, as per the list above.
Then cut your chosen shape out of the paper or sticker, we decided to go for a heart since it’s Valentine’s Day but you could do anything you like, we think letters would work especially well for this DIY project.
Next you need to stick your shape onto your jar, we did it with a sticker and this was pretty easy. But if you’re working with glue or blu-tack then it should still be fairly simple as long as you make sure there are no large gaps between the paper and glass for the paint to get in through.
Once your shape is secured you can start painting your jar, we recommend you do this outside or in a well-ventilated area. And please remember to cover any furniture or clothing that could be caught in the firing line. Our top tip for spray painting is to stand well back and do lots of thin layers of paint waiting for it to dry in-between each coat. This gives the best effect and stops the paint from running.
Now all you have to do is wait for all the paint to dry, we did two coats and waited around 2 hours until it was dry to the touch.
Once it’s dry just gently peel off your shape and voila! There you have your own super simple Valentine’s Day DIY masterpiece. Just throw in your battery tea light or wire lights and you’re done!
I hope you enjoyed this project! Be sure to share the blog if you think your friends might like it too.
