Customise your light up letters

Things are getting personal over here at Festive HQ, and by that we mean we’ve massively expanded our range of personalisable lights including an alphabet full of light up letters.
But we wanted to take it a step further and inject some of our own individual styles onto these lights. So for those of you who see a blank canvas and immediately start to imagine what it could be or if you’re looking for a thoughtful gift, we’ve got just the DIY you need!
Flower Power- J
For our first letter we wanted to get floral! This was probably the easiest letter we did so we only needed a couple of products
What you need:
- PVA Glue
- A brush
- A patterned paper
All you need to do for this diy is to draw round your letter onto your chosen paper and cut it out. Once you have your paper cut out we need to cover your letter in glue trying to avoid the LED bulbs and, carefully, place down your cut out pattern making sure the edges of the paper are flush with the edges of the letter. Then you can push each bulb through the paper trying to be as neat as you can. We then tidied ours up with a Stanley knife but you could leave yours here.
Dot to Dot- &
This one was a lot easier and more effective than we first expected and except for drying time, it was finished very quickly!
What you need:
- Stickers (any shape)
- Spray paint
This one couldn’t be simpler, just take your stickers and place them wherever you want on your letter. Next spray your letter making sure to work in lots of thin coats then once your letter is fully covered and dry you can peel your stickers off.
Rock a doodle do- B
Now we wouldn’t say this one is harder but it does take a steady hand and some artistic flare!
What you need:
- Spray paint
- A marker pen (we used a white paint marker)
First you will need to paint your letter, we chose a matte spray paint, once this has dried you will need to take your marker pen and start drawing. Simple, but it can take some time.
