led versas traditional?

Hello, Over the past three years I have bought three sets of Led lights, two of which have broken this year. They were not cheap but I have a couple of sets of tradional lights that have lasted for years. Are led lights more prone to breaking than tradional ones or have I just been unlucky? Would really appreciate a honest answer before I buy some more? The traditional sets have just been ordinary lights where as the led sets have had transformers to change the functions, is this where the problems lie? Thanks sarah
