Maximise the Power of Solar Lights29th Feb @ 11:30We do our best to make sure clear instructions and guidance is always included with the products we sell. But today’s news item is going to be about something very simple – how to get the best charge for your solar lights in the garden. Solar garden lighting comes in various forms – fairy lights, decorative lights, lanterns, security lighting etc. Aside from solar powered fairy lights, decorative garden lighting – highlighting plants, pathways etc – is an incredibly popular form of outdoor lighting in the U.K. It’s simple, safe and fabulous in terms of money-saving solar power! As with fairy lights, decorative garden lights work by charging a lithium battery through daylight hours using solar cells. So, how do you get the best out of the cells? It’s not rocket science, but a compass and a little observation can be useful! Treat the solar cell as you would your fantasy home – south facing is best! A solar cell angled upwards in a south-facing direction typically gets the best charge. However, the geography of your home is a huge factor. For example, if your south-facing boundary is lined with dense foliage and the solar cell falls in shade for much of the day, it might be worth a rethink. If you have the time, take a little while to observe the path of the sun across your property throughout the day. Modern solar lighting is designed to work very effectively even in shady conditions, but a pleasant afternoon plotting the course of the sun could be superbly beneficial.
