Valentine's Day Special - Light up your Valentine’s eyes with a romantically lit dinner

08th @ 10:14 So, you’ve got the Moet & Chandon waiting on ice, the lamb is in the oven, the vegetables are boiling, you’re dressed up to the nine’s with the silk underwear your wife bought you last year, and you’re freshly shaven, under control.

Everything’s ready. You light fifty red tea light candles, sprinkle the pot pourri on the table, give the sauce a stir.

Her car pulls into the drive. Driver’s door shuts, heels on the drive, key in the lock.

The front door opens, her eyes adjust to the low light, and she smiles, taking in the rich smell of dinner. As she closes the door, the breeze blows out 6 or 7 candles. Not a problem, you can just re-light them.
Except that those elegant trails of smoke dance up towards the smoke alarm and your wife is severely asthmatic. Her eyes are already widening and she’s reaching for the inhaler in her handbag.

The smoke alarm screams over the soulful sound of Marvin Gaye. You panic, run over to your wife, help her outside to the fresh air, sit her on the floor. She’s fine. A little tight-chested, but fine.

The house is another matter: the dog knocked over the champagne and crockery in a vain attempt to jump up and bite the smoke alarm, the sauce has bubbled over and is blackening on the hob, you forgot to turn off the grill so the garlic bread is charred and smoking and now the pot pourri is all over the floor, the champagne flutes are smashed and the dinner is ruined. All because of a couple of tea lights.

BUT!!!!

All of this could have been avoided.

If you’d have thought in advance about your wife’s asthma, you could have bought some atmospheric pink and purple heart shaped lights, and set them around the mirror.

You could have got some twinkling led stars and a pink and white rope light to go around the lampshades.
You could have even got some led tea lights and placed them on the table to add some more romantic ambience.

Next time, don’t let candles ruin your day. Be prepared. Make your Valentine ’s Day special with pink and white atmospheric lights.
