Some tips on safety precautions for Christmas lights28th Sep @ 16:17 Christmas is one celebration that everyone looks forward to every year. Gifts, decorative accessories and Christmas trees are some of the things that make this festival beautiful and soothing. Some people are blessed with a white Christmas, however not everyone is lucky due to geographical variations. This does not mean that Christmas has to be any less beautiful. With proper lighting and decorations, you can make a perfect Christmas ambience. There are many different kinds of Christmas lightings that are available in the market, choose one that suits your preference and matches your interior. Care should be taken while installing these lights as they can be dangerous if not maintained properly. Taking simple steps can reduce the likelihood of accidents and injuries associated with Christmas lights. Mentioned below are some safety precautions that need to be undertaken when installing Christmas lights. Light selection: Opt for properly tested Christmas lights. Look for labels indicating that the lights have been certified by an independent testing laboratory. Light inspection: If possible, ask the shopkeeper to open the box and show the lights. Inspect the light strands for broken or frayed wires and broken sockets. Discard damaged sets rather than trying to repair them. Improper insulation can cause electrocution with adverse effects. Bulb precaution: There are certain types of bulbs that are not recommended for use around children as they can accidentally break. Such bulbs are very fragile and hence can expose you to hazardous materials inside or sustain cuts from broken plastic/glass. Use of extension cords: Use extension cord only when absolutely necessary. Do not connect more than three plugs in the extension cord. Categorised in: Christmas Lights |
