This hormone induces sleep. Due to this medical fact, companies keep their factories and warehouse well-lit. This is especially important if employees are performing repetitive tasks in an enclosed environment. A study published in 1995 stated that a particular company saved 500,000 pounds a year by upgrading their industrial lights. The advanced commercial lights used resulted in a 15% increase in employees’ productivity levels and a 15% decrease in employee absentees. Companies should allow their employees to select brightness levels they are most comfortable with. Different employees may want different lights and levels of brightness.
