Choosing Christmas Baubles

21st Apr @ 09:08 Experiencing Christmas for many children means enjoying the food, presents, sense of ceremony and excitement – essentially, enjoying Christmas for what it is.

Growing up means that loss of some of these things. Father Christmas is no more, there may be in-laws to contend with, presents mean spending money you don’t have and the whole festive period can boil down to more work and more stress. You could be forgiven to wondering who or what took the fun out of Christmas.

This is apparent in the pages of home and living magazines which publish articles on how to create the perfect Christmas at home. Pages are filled with artfully designed and beautifully decorated tables, trees and rooms. Suddenly it isn’t enough to use the same Christmas baubles you always used, and cheap Christmas tree decorations are out of the question and a ‘colour theme’ must be agreed on.

It’s enough to send anyone into a spin. Naturally, everyone wants their home and their artificial Christmas trees to look especially inviting over the festive period, especially if parties are planned and guests coming to stay. But does it really matter if you use Christmas baubles that don’t match? Or if the Christmas baubles you love are the ones you’ve had in your family for years and don’t fit in with this season’s fashionable colours?

Surely there is no crime in using cheap Christmas tree decorations as long as they are attractive, and using sentimental decorations illustrates exactly what Christmas is all about.

This year, make Christmas your own. Use what you love and do what you like to make it a personal holiday meaningful to you and your family.
