ROCHDALE PUTS CHRISTMAS LIGHTS UP IN AUGUST

03rd Sep @ 20:28

While all in the UK are trying to make the best of the mixed summer season, a lancashire town has installed thier Christmas Lights for this year already.

The council announced that festive lights would be installed by 19 October throughout Rochdale and apparently said the lights will be used to celebrate different Festivals starting with Eid next month.

It is thought that Rochdale borough council has installed the outdoor fairy lights early to lower costs, but they will not be switched on until the Christmas period is closer.

Workers used a cherry picker and while the sun shone as they began putting up the lights on lampposts throughout the borough – a mere 127 days before Christmas day. In Rochdale borough council a number of different silhouettes have been errected including father Christmas and skiing penguins to name just a few.

Residents have had mixed views about the early installation of Christmas decorations, some explaining that they are still trying the enjoy the summer and some saying that they agree with cutting costs. Many other smaller towns may have to look at buying and errecting the Christmas Lighting earlier to guarantee the best prices.

At Festive Lights we are receiving a large number of enquiries from town councils who are on a tighter budgets for commercial lights.

We would like to hear your thoughts on this, you can post a comment below:
